Voted The 10 Most Shocking School Rules Ever
All schools have a few rules and regulations, but here are a few that were just a bit too much…
1. No high fives
Yep, one middle school banned children form high fiving each other at all, giving detentions to anyone that did.
2. Only 5 friends
Apparently, a principal once said that groups of over 5 kids caused trouble—so they shouldn’t be allowed. Anyone chatting in a group of 6 or more was immediately separated.
3. A ban on pens
To reduce the graffiti in school bathrooms, a school once banned pens, markers and any other writing tool except for pencils.
There was a rule at one school that there must always be daylight between a boy and girl standing together, to prevent “inappropriate behaviour”.
5. Blazers 24/7
At one school, kids were made to wear blazers all year round. No matter how hot the days got, they were not allowed to remove the blazers.
6. Traffic at lunch?
There was a traffic light installed in the cafeteria of a school, and when the red light turned on, children were expected to instantly be quiet.
7. No fist bumps
Another school banned fist bumps, claiming it was for “safety reasons”. What’s so unsafe about a friendly gesture like a fist bump?
8. Gone bananas
One school banned kids from eating bananas that were not chopped up, because it was “inappropriate”. This is one of the most ridiculous rules ever.
9. 3 bathroom breaks a week
A school once restricted bathroom breaks to only 3 times a week, as if people have control over when and how often they need to use the bathroom!
10. No playing tag
There was also a school that banned kids from playing tag at recess. Kids are supposed to be active and have fun during their breaks, not be forced to sit idle.
